But not for some…
Upon reflecting over the past 11 months, I have done things and experienced things that haven't been easy and have caused grief and anguish within me. I am sure each one of us can relate: Losing a loved one, family break down, loss of a pet, changing of jobs, of season, of countries… the list is endless. But on some level we all have one things in common- we have all been through a hardship of some type.
At the end of it we are all human and sometimes Christmas can serve as a reminder of something that has changed or what we don't have. If we are not careful we can become so consumed with it that the joy and the peace and love that is at the true meaning of Christmas can be lost in grief and sorry.
It's the most wonderful time of the year…
But are you willing?
To let go?
To look forward?
To be joyful?
To be thankful?
To see the light at the end of the tunnel?
Are you willing to make it the most wonderful time of the year? You may need to let go of the things that have hurt you and held you back? To look forward into 2014 with a heart full of love (and a stomach full of food)? Are you willing to be JOYFUL IN EVERY SITUATION, laying waste to fear and anxiety? Thankful for ALL the things that happened during the year (the good AND the bad). Are you willing to forgive the wrongs that others have done to you and yourself for the wrongs you have done? Are you willing, at the end of it all, to see the light of Jesus, shining will all it's might, beckoning you into His fullness and grace?
All you have to do is say "yes, I am willing to". As the days roll over, let yourself be happy. Let yourself be joyful and excited for Christmas and enjoy this season in light of the Son who was born.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
