God wants us to be the light, a shining example for Christ to help guide people back to Him so that people can come safely back to shore, to His salvation. Jesus is waiting for them as He was for His disciples after He died and rose again. The disciples had been out all night fishing and caught nothing, but when they returned to shore, Jesus was there ready to feed them. However, before He fed them He guided them in the right direction. “Throw your net on the right side and you will catch some.” Sure enough they caught 153 large fish, they caught so much, the net could have broken, but it did not. They could not even haul the net in because of all the fish. They then realised that it was the Lord (John 21:1-14).
God wants to guide people back to Him, for He loves each and every one of us. He wants each of us to have a God encounter. He wants to bless others regardless of class, race, gender or even people who are deemed unforgiveable by others. Jesus was friends to adulterers and tax collectors; he showed kindness to lepers, the demon possessed, the lame, the blind, even the man who was crucified beside Him. He is love. He wants us to show the same love to others for we are called to be the light of the world.
Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven.
