Hopeful Heart

Eternal gifts of forgiveness and redemption.

The goodness of God endures continually.”- Psalm 52:1

Good things show up in our lives in many ways: friends and family, health, a roof overhead and food on the table, the enjoyment we receive from music, nature, books and so on. The Bible teaches us that God is the giver of these blessings. “God’s gift to us is the happiness we get from our food and drink and from the work we do. “Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created the heavens.”

These gifts however, as wonderful as they are, are just a small illustration of God’s love. God didn’t have to send His Son; and Jesus didn’t have to lay down His life for our sakes, but He did, and as a result, we are eligible to receive forgiveness of sins and the assurance of an eternity in God’s loving presence.

Without Jesus’ sacrifice, without His sufferings on the cross, without His death, without His resurrection and triumph over the grave, we would not have the promise of everlasting life. Let us take some time to thank God for His gift of salvation. Thank Him for these eternal gifts of forgiveness and redemption.

“Thank You, Lord for sending Your Son, Jesus, to bear the punishment for all my mistakes and shortcomings. Please keep my heart, mind, and life open to You, so that I always remember Your daily goodness in my life.” Amen.

James 1:17 ESV
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

How many times do we read that God is with us or God will be with us?

A couple weeks ago I was reminded that whenever or wherever He sends us, He will not let us go by ourselves, just like what He did to Moses (Exodus 3:12) or to Joshua (Joshua1:9).

Jesus Himself made the same promise to us because we are called to be His witness (Matt.28:20).

It is amazing to receive the promise from the One who can never break the promise. Who am I that the Creator of the world, the King of kings gives me the promise to be with me? Who are we that we have received this promise and know He is fulfilling it?

It is not an accident that I am in this new place and learning to adapt and facing different challenges. The reminder of His presence is such a great blessing for me and even today at Sunday meeting the message is about His promise.

And as I am thinking of those who live in a situation where proclaiming His name means prison or death, they still persevere to live on God’s promises. Why? Because I believe they have learned in trust that God’s promises are applicable in every trials and we are sent to proclaim His name despite all oppositions. The Lord will give us the grace to do His work and we are His vessels. That is a wonderful thought I find comfort in.

Matthew 29: 20 NLT
Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Made complete in Christ

The Christ life is in harmony with our nature. Just recently, I was asked by a sincere and intelligent  non - Christian woman. She displayed the deepest hunger for the truth about Christ  and she sincerely asked, "How can Christ enter us and we not lose our individuality in the process? This experience will destroy our personality; it violates our responsibility as individuals."

My response was, "Your personality is incomplete without Christ. Christ made us and we were made for Christ, and until we meet Him personally, we are not complete. "Suppose," I continued, "that gas jet should say, 'If I take this fire in, the gas coursing through me will lose its individuality. That wouldn't be right isn't it? It is only when the fire comes in that the gas fulfills its purpose.

"Suppose the rain should say, 'What shall I do? If I drop on the ground I shall lose my individuality.' But it falls and is absorbed by the soil, and with the coming spring the evidence of the rain's presence grew through green grasses and wild flowers flourishing shyly."

Our individualities are never at lost when we have Christ within us.  Let us rise to our new life in Christ and allow Him to work through us; we are made complete in Christ. I live by the faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

A free gift that is unseen by the world

Would you be excited to receive a free gift? As God’s child, Jesus gave us a free gift; he promises to give us an advocate to help us and He will not leave us comfortless. His very free gift that is unseen by the world – the Holy Spirit.

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever. The Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” – John 14: 16-17.

Holy Spirit is a free gift that everyone has access to, it is a gift that is redeemable by everyone. To receive the Holy Spirit is to access the supernatural power of God in your life, it is a gift of the Spirit and it has the ability to bring God’s reality into your life. God wants to do much good to you and through you.

If it has been in your heart to invite the Holy Spirit into your life, all you have to do is ask for them to come and believe that Jesus is your Saviour.  It is a gift that will change your life for the better and you will always have an advocate who understands you like no other.

The person who speaks in tongues is strengthen personally… (1 Corinthians 14: 4). Would you invite and allow the Holy Spirit into your heart today? He will be your Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counsellor and Strengthener.

Acts 19: 5 – 6
On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Our hope is in Christ, our living Hope.

As the days are leading to Christmas, it has been a leading to share what has been the core heart of Hopeful Heart. Hopeful Heart started on a mundane night of August 2011 where God has been speaking much about hope unto our seasons.

Hope through Christ has been such a key message we delight in sharing to believers. When we as believers speak of hope, it resonates deeper that any earthly desires but it is an affirmation that our hope is made certain and it rests on the finished work of Jesus to bring us forgiveness, eternal salvation and reconciliation of humanity's brokenness in a fallen world. We are not left in this world to fight our own battles, Christ is the anchor of our soul, He has come to this world to be a Saviour and a secure hope in times of need and hopelessness.

Through the coming of Jesus, He has secured us hope in many ways. We are able to hope for the future; that we will be redeemed through the free gift of salvation, we could hope in the present that we are sustained, upheld and loved by a God who loves unconditionally. We are also enabled to hope for reconciliations over the scars and consequences of past mistakes; failures are no greater than God’s restorative power.

As we were led to the verse of Hebrew 16: 20 about hope, it brought about the name of Hopeful Heart. The word Heart is derived from Proverbs 4: 23 NLT. It instructs us to guard our heart above all else as it will determine the course of our lives. So dear friends, as we anchor our hearts in Christ Jesus our Saviour and Redeemer in this month where Christ needs to be celebrated more than gifts and festive activities, we will find His Words to continually guard our hearts through the providence of insightful wisdom and deeper Biblical understanding. May you always find hope in Christ, your living hope and continue to spread His Good News. Jesus is the real reason for Christmas, it is because of His birth, we have Christmas; let Him be at the center of it.

Hebrew 16: 20 NIV
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf...

Have you been double-minded lately?

18/10/2018

It is a normal experience for the modern world we live in. With constant distraction and options; variety of choices as we go through our days.

This is how God prompted me about the battle in my mind... and how indecision and double-mindedness drains my energy and capacity. It is that constant background chatters; that static noise that eats away at your ability to focus and concentrate. It is time to step up and decide, be steadfast in the choices we made; choosing righteousness over fleeting emotions or mood.

James says that those who are double-minded will not receive anything from God, they are unstable in ALL their ways. Being double-minded permeates all aspects of our life not just that one area we think we struggle with.

But let “Steadfastness have it’s full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let her ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given Her...” (James 1:1-27)

Learn to live freely and lightly

Reading this passage below, the words “The Invitation” came to mind, because of the language of Relationship God is using.

Words like Come...Show...Walk...With Me...Work...With Me...Watch...Keep Company...Keep...With Me...

God never designed life to be walked without Him. We were always meant to depend on Him. But how many times have I taken the steering wheel and left Him out?

God has been holding out His hands, waiting for me to grab His hands with both of mine. He wants us to allow Him to take the lead in life, in work, in our relationships... to Watch Him and Work with Him and Model what He is doing. And then to Keep Remaining in Him.

And this is the secret to LIVING FREE! And LIGHTLY! Not burdened like the rest of the world...
