Every day when I look around I see people time after time placing their hope in things like money, assets and other people. Sadly I also see them become disappointed and hurt when the things that they put their hope in do not gratify what their heart has called out for. So easily we can become hope-less and come under an illusion of hopelessness.
We say the word ‘hope’ more than we think because the reality is that we all have a hope… even if it is the smallest fragment it is still a hope. Hope is powerful! It can cause human beings to hold on in the toughest and most horrific circumstances. We see people on the news who stay alive in the midst of being buried alive under earthquake rubble for days and days without any sustenance because of… hope.
So we all have a hope but what is it that we place out hope in? Money that is here one day and gone the next? Assets that we are grateful for, but cannot fully gratify our hearts? Or people who have a long track record of letting us down? No, I place my hope in God. Why?
There is hope, hope in His Word (Romans 15:4). Hoping in Him give me joy (Romans 12:12). Having hope in God will strengthen me (Isaiah 40:31). He is the God of hope (Romans 15:13). Hope does not disappoint (Romans 5:5).
Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
Psalm 147:11
The Lord delight in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.
