A certain man was going down from Jerusalem (the city of peace), to Jericho (the city of curse). He fell down among robbers, who having both stripped him and beaten him, went away, leaving him half dead.
By coincidence, a priest who was going down on that road, saw him, but passed by without rendering any help. And likewise also a Levite.
But a certain Samaritan, who was journeying, came upon him; and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion; And he came to him and bound up his wounds and poured oil and wine on them. And placing him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn and took care of him.
The good Samaritan is a portrayal of our Savior, the Lord Jesus; who although despised by men, is always full of compassion, and is willing to save and heal those in need. The Bible is a constant record of God's compassion. So, come to Him whenever you are weary, heavily burdened or broken hearted. Seek Him in prayer, cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
He is Immanuel (God with us) and also Jehovah-Rapha (The Lord that Heals).
Jeremiah 17: 14
Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise
Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.
But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him.
