Quaint yellow Christmas-market stalls are sprinkled throughout the city, nestled beside the impressive Baroque architecture. The air is chilly yet it is filled with the warm scents of homemade wine and roasted chestnuts.
The Christmas spirit is definitely alive and well here but let’s not forget the simple things about Christmas. These are the few things I’ve learned about Christmas:
- The birth of our Savior – Jesus Christ: Jesus died on the cross 2000 years ago to give us the best gift of all – Salvation, the gift of eternal life. It is a free gift to anyone. This is the true meaning of Christmas.
- It is a season of giving and sharing - Do you know anyone who is spending Christmas alone? Why don’t you include them in your festive activities and make them feel at home. For many years, I was one of them and I’m grateful for the families who opened their homes for me during Christmas.
- Togetherness: Christmas brings family and friends together, if there is anyone you have not spoken to for awhile, consider giving them a call ; it may put a smile on their face. Spend some quality time with your families and don’t let the tearing away paper gift be the only highlight of the day.
Please feel free to share your thoughts on the meaning of Christmas. Meanwhile, have a very Merry Christmas wherever you are. God bless you.
