The Bible tells many stories of people who struggled with loneliness. Most times when we read their stories, we don’t really ponder on the real hardship they had to face during their grueling circumstances
Let’s take Joseph’s story for example.
He was betrayed by his own brothers; talk about being rejected by the people you love and trust. Not only he was rejected, he was sold into slavery to a foreign country. To top it off, he was also unjustly accused and imprisoned. Those dark times must have been really lonely for him.
Then there was Esther, a beautiful young Jewish girl who was taken to the King’s harem. She must have had a plan for her life; a man she loved and other friends she would rather spend her time with. Though Esther found favor in the King’s eyes, there was no pledge of commitment from the King. She must have felt insignificant and lonely.
These Bible characters have had their moments of loneliness but they shared a significant source where they drew their strength and hope from. They served a mighty God who brought them comfort and hope in the midst of their loneliness. What God did for Joseph and Esther, He will do for you too!
Father God, when loneliness is trying to undo me, it is easy to allow the feeling of hopelessness creep in but please help me choose to lift my voice in praise to You. Remind me of Your wonderful doings in my life and of Your great love for me. Unto your hand, I commit my life and future. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
