It is always easy to fall into our own hypocrisy. It is easy to say other people, especially the politician are hypocrites but do we realize that we are also inconsistent in some aspects of our lives?
I believe it is pride and fear that push us into hypocrisy: either we fear to lose what we have or we have a prideful image to maintain or to keep together. We can try to lie to people with our hypocrisy but we cannot lie to God.
In Gethsemane, Jesus chose to fear disobeying God and chose to obey. This is a reverential fear we ought to follow and as the Bible speaks in Proverbs 16:18 – Pride goes before destruction.
Coming to this Christmas season, let us celebrate the beginning of Christ-like humility by laying aside pride and carnal fears that could cause hypocrisy. Jesus has extended such mercy and grace by coming Himself as a baby boy born in a lowly manger. He loves you and me.
Stay blessed with this truth. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
