We are not really creatures of change. Change is something uncomfortable and perhaps even painful, but when God wants to do something in your life, He stretches you. He wants you to step out of your comfort zone. It is like a balloon, when you blow air into the balloon it is at first rather difficult and then gets a bit easier as the air slowly stretches out the balloon. Once it is the perfect size you stop blowing and tie up the balloon. It looks great for a day or so and then it slowly starts to deflate and never returns to its original shape, it becomes stretched out and wrinkly.
It is like that with God, when He wants to do something new in your life, it will at first be really uncomfortable. We probably will complain before we let God do a transformation in us, but if we let Him, things slowly start falling into place or perhaps it may happen rapidly. Everything happens according to the Lord’s timing, if you let Him work in you. You will never go away disappointed.
We cannot afford to get too comfortable because when we do we can slowly start to deflate and begin to stagnate. God does not want us to idle He wants us to grow. There will be periods of challenge and growth and times of rest and revitalisation. Time to reflect and wait on the Lord until it is His time to begin a new thing in your life again, with a new balloon. He knows that we need challenges to help us grow, to build character, to be the people He wants us to be. People with potential, if we do not let God stretch us, how can we be the people God has called us to be? He will never give you more than you can handle. God knows how much you can take. Trust Him to take you into a new chapter of your life.
Isaiah 43:19 NLT
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
