The almond tree has a special representation in the Hebrew language. It comes from the root word to "watch"or "wake". This is because the almond tree is one of the first trees to "wake up", bud and produce fruit after winter time.
In th Bible, Jeremiah was young, fearful and insecure when God called him. God used the picture of an almond tree to show Jeremiah how He watches over His word to perform it!
We often have promises from God, or prayers whispered in our hearts. We may wonder when these promises may come to pass, or whether God is listening to our prayers.
Be encouraged, God hears! He is watching over His a Word. And like the almond tree which awakens after the winter, God will keep His promises. He is more than faithful and His Word will surely come to pass!
Jeremiah 1:11, 12 The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?” “I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied. The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”
