Exodus 33:15-16
Do you take for granted the value and the awesomeness and the power of the Presence of God? We live in a consumerist city where anyone can have anything at (almost) anytime. "I don't need a God" is a popular phase that people can say… We can simply get things for ourselves: when we are sick, we go to the doctors. When we need food, we go to the shops.
Moses knew the need for the Presence of God. He had dragged the complaining Israelites out of Egypt only to have them worship an idol! There was no way he was going to go it alone! He knew that it was God's presence that set them apart from any other people in the world. And we are still let apart today.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
