Honour is a small word for a big challenge.
I used to think of it more like Maximus defending his honour in the movie Gladiator . Unfortunately, its not that simple according to the trusty Oxford dictionary, where Honour is defined as:
Have you been waiting on something from God for a while now and haven’t heard back yet? God has promised us that if we honour Him, He will honour us (1 Samuel 2:30). Showing honour positions us to receive God’s favour and blessings. There are so many ways we could create a culture of honour in our lives. Like using words to acknowledge another person’s influence and talents (how many times do we fail to do this because we are afraid it will show our own faults?), through our actions (even simple things like doing the household chores without grumbling)… it seems that the more I look for ways to show honour, the more I realise how much I have overlooked it.
But these little things add up and could be what’s been stopping us from an answered prayer. We can change that by being a people who cultivate a culture of honour!

- Pay public respect to
- The quality of knowing and doing what is morally right
- Something regarded as a rare opportunity and bringing pride and pleasure; a privilege
- Fulfill (an obligation) or keep (an agreement), accept ( a bill) or pay (a cheque) when due
