Flicking and reading through Deuteronomy, I came across something that I highlighted 3 years ago: "This day I call heaven and earth as a witness against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." Deuteronomy 30:19. How many decisions that we make have the weight of life or death?
The Israelites were nearing the end of their time in the wilderness and God was preparing them for what they were entering into, including giving them moral instruction that would not only effect them, but generations after them. This generation of Israelites held the future of next generation in their hands. That they did or didn't do, whether they chose life or death literally meant a life of abundance or a life of death and separation from their God.
Living in New Testaments times, when we place Jesus at the center of our lives and make HIM your life, it becomes easier to choose life over death. With a mind that is renewed by our Lord, we can discern what decisions and thoughts that are put before us which will cause us to fall or succeed. God's desire for humanity is for us to worship Him and Him alone and to be prosperous and multiply.
Whatever you face today CHOOSE LIFE! CHOOSE JESUS! And He will take care of you and generations after you.
"And that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob."
