(Matthew 22:37-40)
Leviticus is one of the books that I found quite challenging to understand; they are imposed with many rules and law but through these books, I came to realize how vast God’s love through Jesus Christ is.
The book of Leviticus is full of God’s laws for the Israel on how they should present their offerings before God and it details on how they should perform their daily day to day activities.
Only though Christ we can find the true joyful life and full access to His Holy throne. God is holy and for us, a sinful being to approach Him, there were many rituals we were supposed to perform but Jesus lifted up the penance when we receive Him as Christ our Saviour.
The book of Leviticus affirms that God has chose to die on our behalf thus abolishing all the rituals needed for us to approach the throne unblemished and approved by the Heavenly Father. Now it is our turn to show our gratitude and build a relationship with Him which is based on love just as He has loved us through Christ.
It is our love to Him that counts. Let us remind ourselves daily that as He has loved us with an everlasting love and we are now free to love Him without having to earn the Holy One’s approval through rituals and burnt offerings. As the Bible puts it - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind for this the greatest of all.
