Choice no 1: My brother was half an hour late. I hate waiting and was fuming by the time he pulled up to pick me up from work. Despite his apology, I then proceeded to vent my frustration and anger with a good long lecture that felt so good on delivery and was followed by a prolonged ‘silent treatment’ for the rest of the car ride home. We were both upset, angry and distant towards each other by the time we got home.
Choice no 2: My brother was half an hour late. I hate waiting and am fuming but I ask what kept him and he replied that he was stuck finishing an assignment off at uni. I realise that he is usually on time if not early picking me up. I choose to forgive him and let this one incident go because I know that there is nothing more I can do to change the situation.
One situation. Two choices.
