Most people are familiar with the term ‘generation gap’. It is a term popularized by the media to refer to the differences of lifestyle, behavior and thinking between the older and the younger generations. The generations are divided between baby boomers, generation X, generation Y and generation Z.
Each generation is perceived differently by the media and the public.
Baby boomers (born between 1950s-1960s) are the ‘hard workers’ with strong work ethic and perseverance. Generation X ((1970s – 1980s) are called the unknown generation but often seen as the slack generation due to parental neglect. Generation Y (1982 – 1995) shares the etiquette of baby boomers but they are also influenced by the rebellious nature of Generation X.
Generation Z (1995 –present) are the most technology savy yet there is a growing perception that generation Z is the over-indulgent generation as they were introduced to good lifestyle since they were born.
Among all these stereotypical categories, I’m glad as brother and sisters of Christ, we all come under one generation and name – The Children of God.
Regardless what our background, colours, cultures and lifestyles, God accepts us as who we are and grace us with His undeserving love. That way, we would be transformed inside and out to receive and give out love to the people who are different and similar to us. There is no more judgment because God calls us under one name – His Children, and that is who we are.
Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
