Paul gave an example of a Chris-centred life in Ephesians- we should not focus on pleasing people but pleasing God. From the moment Paul started following Christ, he endeavoured to align what he did with Christ- in this he became a servant of Christ.
The biggest, most challenging and most rewarding life decisions that I have made did not come out of a desire to please my family, friends or pastors. I wanted to please God. As a result, these decisions tested relationship and brought about new ones. But it was when I made these decisions out of a heart to please Him that my character grew.
When we let go of our old lives and seek a new life in Christ (Ephesians 4:17-24), our focus no-longer lingers on pleasing man but on God instead. Does life get tough? Yes but in these times we must stick to being obedient and not let our focus waver.
1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
