This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
What assurance do we have as a Christian? Daniel was safe though he was put in lion’s den, Peter was released from jail and John died because of old age. However, John the Baptist was beheaded. James was put to death by the sword and many Christians were still tortured because of their faith, around the world.
What assurance do we have in this world as Christian? I believe that some people try to find the logical explanation and some people just ignore the question and say that God does not even exist. But we have Jesus’ promises: “whoever comes to Me I will never drive away (John 6: 37), “…If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you also…They will treat you this way because of My name, for they do not know the One who sent Me (John 15: 20 -21), “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world (John 16: 33)”.
And the One who has pledged those promises is the One who loves you and I, to the point that He shed His blood on the cross to set us free from our bondage so that we can have eternal life with Him. I have no answer for suffering. But there is hope and there is assurance far beyond you and I can ever imagine. Take heart! I have overcome the world and I am greater than the one who is in the world. The love story still continues until today - the everlasting love of Christ for us.
