We rarely take time just to be quiet; we are usually too busy with our own lives to even have spare time to ourselves, let alone God. Even when we do have time, we tend to fill it with other things. I know I would probably end up watching TV instead of having a moment of quiet reflection.
When we do spend time with Him to pray and wait on the Lord, it makes all the difference. We should come away feeling revitalised after spending time with God like Moses was in Exodus 34:29. Moses did not know that his face shone after spending time with God, but other people could see it. Are we the type of Christians who radiate God’s glory and make people want to know what it is that is different about us or are we the long-faced, gloomy Christians or the type that no-one even knows that we are Christians?
Do people come away after talking to us feeling revitalised and encouraged or deflated and discouraged?
James 4:8a
Spend time with God. As you draw near to Him he will draw near to you
