In Genesis 28 Jacob came across a place called Luz (Bethel) on his way to Haran. Here he stopped and rested and had a dream of angels going up and down a ladder to heaven (Gen. 28:12). He made a pillar as a reminder of God’s covenant or promises to him. Jacob wanted to remember this place. It was special. He experienced God there! Jacob didn’t return back to that place until over 20 years later.
We mustn't forget the places or times in your life where God has made a promise to you. Jacob made that pillar as a reminder that no matter what is going to happen or how far he travels; God has made a promise that He is going to fulfill. When we are in those no-so-good places in our lives we need reminders that God is who He says He is and WILL do what He has promised.
Psalm 119:50
My comfort in my suffering is this:Your promise preserves my life.
In God’s time he will bring forth what he has promised you. Don’t forget where He has bought you out of. Remind yourself of His promises for your life.
