However when it comes to life, I used to hope that it will always be sweet. I'd be very happy when things are going smoothly; according to plan. And I'd panic or become sad and disappointed when something unexpected happens.
As time goes by, I've tasted many sour or difficult moments and before I knew it, the experiences changed me. I could face them calmer now, I guess I've grown a little bit. Don't get me wrong, I still fail very often but I know I'm growing from time to time. I also could learn to trust God better than before.
Yes, Jesus loves us very much but making things smooth, easy and sweet for us all the time is not good for us. Just like eating too much sweet food isn't good for our health. So instead, God enriches our lives with many experiences, sometimes sweet and sometimes bitter ones, so that we continue to grow.
Romans 5:1-4
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
