He was the disciple of the great prophet Elijah who stood up against 450 false prophets during the times of King Ahab and the evil Queen Jezebel.
In the Book of Kings (2 Kings 2:9), Elijah asked Elisha “Tell me, what can I do for you before I’m taken from you?” and Elisha replied “Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit.”
Elijah, his mentor performed seven major miracles recorded in the Bible but when Elisha died, he only performed thirteen. Did God failed to grant Elisha’s request? No, HE did not.
After Elisha died and was buried, a group of Moabite robbers invaded the land and some Israelites who were burying a man threw the man’s corpse into Elisha’s tomb. When the dead man’s body touched Elisha’s bones, he revived and stood on his feet (2 Kings 13:20). Miracle fourteen; Elisha got his double portion!
Have you ever felt that God does not keep HIS promises? Does HE really? Elisha’s bones revived a dead man. Your “dead situation” can be revived again. HE promises us victory in every trial.
Let’s be reminded that we serve a faithful God who does not lie nor change HIS mind. HE is the Promise Keeper who never fails.
Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
