She often ignores the topic but one day she told us that one man has captured her heart. We listened eagerly and were shocked to find that the man laid his life down for her. “So who is this man? That he cares to die for you?!” She replied with a smile and said’ “He is Jesus.”
I never told my teacher that I admired her courage that day. I joined the class in boo-ing her instead as it was easier to follow the crowd. I gave in to my peer pressure and did what my heart disagreed to when I could have chosen to encourage my teacher instead.
Don’t let the mainstream choices dictate your way of life, your way of thinking and behaviour because they are not always right. Being in the majority doesn’t always make a person right. Who are we listening to? Are these people walking in God’s way or by human reasoning?
God has died for us to enjoy a life of freedom and joy. Do not throw away your blood bought privilege as a new creation in Christ and be enslaved by the worldly standards. Let the wisdom of God guide our thoughts and actions so we could choose our ways wisely.
James 1:5
