If you are a planner, your calendar may look like mine. Most meetings, events and gatherings are mostly planned or scheduled in advanced. I have a calendar that reminds me of appointments and “to-do” items but sometimes I will unavoidably encounter interruptions to my plans. Sometimes it could be frustrating but some of the interruptions usually turned out to be a better plan or options.
In the Bible, some of the great advances in God’s plans have come through “interruptions” to a normal routine. Take Saul for example, the Jewish extremist who persecuted countless Christians, was on his way to Damascus to arrest more Christians when he was blinded by Jesus Himself (Acts 9:1-9). This life-changing interruption had huge implications on Saul’s heart and the future of Christianity.
We may plan our days but when interruption comes, let’s not respond to it with negative emotions such as frustration, fear or doubt. God is able to make the plans of peoples to no effect (Psalm 33:10) and there is always a purpose to every ‘interruption’ in our ‘planned’ days. Let’s welcome all ‘interruptions’ as an opportunity to look for God’s life changing purposes for us.

The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.
