Like the Psalmist David, there were many times I felt that God has forsaken me. The tears shed and prayers said seem endless yet there were no answers. My flesh struggles to trust God in those times.
David however, had a different spirit in him. Despite all the complains he uttered, he stopped to ponder and remember God’s mighty deeds and miracles of long ago. David finally proclaimed the ways of the Lord is holy and higher. “Your ways, O God, are holy. What God is so great as our God? You are the God who performs miracles.” – Psalm 77: 13-14
When bad news strike and self pity seems overwhelming, take time to ponder on all the goodness God has done in your life and you will soon come to realize that HE is indeed a faithful God. When you feel God has forsaken you, do not let self pity clouds your judgement because God is closer to you than you think.
Psalm 77: 7 - 9
Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favor again?
Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time?
Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?
